Madrid is the nightlife city. Madrilenos are not known as cats for nothing. They are night time creatures that have maintained a reputation for shunning the daytime hours in favour of their nocturnal prowess. Time and again they will amaze you, while staying out till 7am is a once a month or less affair for most reasonable folk here, it is a lifestyle choice every weekend. Thanks to a midday siesta and late night tapas before hitting the clubs these feline folk can keep parting till breakfast time. Hence the popularity of heading straight to San Gines for melted chocolate and fried dough known as churros at 7am after a night of mingling. Popular areas for a great night include chic hipster bars in Malasana, colourful gay nights out in Chueca and big discos a little outside the centre like huge warehouse club Fabrik in the Southwest of the city.
Our perfect itinerary includes a few plates of delectable tapas while rubbing shoulders with the beautiful thritysomething Madrid locals on Cava Baja Street in the lively neighbourhood La Latina. After this head to old man bar El Palentino in Malasana where all the fashion hipsters flaunt their vintage looks and sip beers at cheap prices, maybe the clientele have changed in this old fashioned bar but the prices certainly have not. Head on out to a big club like Kapital near Atocha metro and be amazed with how long these cats can party for. When you have boogied your socks off and it's time to hit the hay, stop off at St.Gines cafe for typical fried dough churros dipped in chocolate. Your hips might regret it the next day but at the time it is worth every bite!
