Gay Pride festival
Madrid boasts one of the worlds most legendary Gay Pride celebrations, and in 2009 and 2010 the city was voted Best Annual Gay Destination by fans of MTVs Logo channel. Revolving around the Chueca area, the event reaches its climax with an impressive parade which is always held on the first Saturday after 28 June.

V for Veggie
Just when you feel like you will never get away from hanging legs of ham, head to viva la Vida for a quick fix veggie feast. With everything from polenta style pizza to seaweed paella this restaurant/shop was the first vegetarian take away in the city. The other sit down version (also buffet style) is in la Latina and offers a similar selection with homemade smoothies and juices. Budget: medium 10-15euro
